Alice began singing in her home city of Winchester at an early age, taking lessons from Hilary Hill at Winchester Cathedral. A member and regular soloist first with Winchester Young Voices, and later with Hampshire County Youth Choir (under the directorship of Keith Smith and, later, Keith Clark), Alice gained a place in the National Youth Choir of Great Britain at just 17.
She studied Cultural Studies with Music at Birmingham University (Music Performance, 1st Class), during which time she frequently appeared as a soloist with the Birmingham University Singers and in several Summer Festival Operas, including Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira). Alice went on to study at Birmingham Conservatoire, obtaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Vocal Performance with the help of soprano Luise Horrocks. While there she appeared in a production of English Eccentrics (Princess Caraboo), directed by Lionel Friend, and sang regularly with Birmingham Bach Choir and Ex Cathedra.
In 2006, Alice won a bursary from the Weingarten Foundation, to study at the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét, Hungary. During her year in Hungary, Alice specialised in vocal performance and music education, benefitting from coaching with Roland Hajdu and János Klezli.
Since going to university, her most established influence has been Ashley Stafford and she has also sung in master classes with Jessica Glynn, Michael Chance and Esther Salaman.
Alice has now returned to her home county and lives near Romsey with her fiancé, David Coram with whom she has formed the duo Singing For Supper and runs Music Intutition, a teaching and youth music organisation in Hampshire responsible for Romsey Children’s Choir. She performs regularly with David and as a soloist with local choral societies and orchestras, and teaches singing in two schools, as well as having been recently appointed vocal coach to the Hampshire County Youth Choir.
